Meet our Athletic Coordinators...
Meet Coach Darnell, our Athletic Director for boys. Coach Darnell is in his 15th year coaching. After 4 years at Bush, 3 years at Clements, and 5 years at Ridge Point, he returned home to Clements 3 years ago. Coach Darnell is a graduate of Clements (c/o 97). He went on to Baylor University and there he earned a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications as well as a Master's of Education in Sports Management. He believes, "Hard work pays off. Don't ever be outworked" as well as, in the words of the great Carrejo, "Work Hard, Play Hard, and Look Good Doing It!" We welcome the entire Darnell family including his wife, Carly, and their children, Micah (17), Marcus (17), and Maddox (16), and Champ the Dog.
Coach Lauryn Berger, our girls' athletic director has been working at Clements High School since 2017 as a Biology teacher, and has coached freshmen volleyball and been an assistant softball coach during that time. She graduated from La Grange High School in 2005, and was a member of the 2005 State Championship softball team. She also played volleyball in her 4 years of high school.
Coach Berger went on to play softball at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 2010. She also earned a Master's Degree in Health Human Performance and Recreation from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas in 2011. Her first teaching position was at East Newton High School in Grandby, Missouri in 2011-2012 where she taught Biology and coached middle school volleyball. She then was able to move back to Texas in the fall of 2012 when she was hired as a freshmen volleyball and assistant softball coach at Bellville High School. Coach Berger took over as the head softball coach in the 2013-2014 school year. During her time at Bellville, she coached her teams to a playoff appearance 4 of the 5 years, and to a Regional Quarterfinalist finish in 2015. She is very excited to take over as head softball coach for Clements and to work with everyone at CABC! #RangerPride
